In-Class Course Location Introduction
Tianjin is the fourth largest city in China by population, and the biggest port in Northern China. It's home to many Fortune 500 and multinational companies, and has a thriving international community.
Ex-pats find Tianjin to be an extremely livable city. It has all of the amenities from home including fantastic shopping malls, western restaurants, coffee shops, nightclubs, and pubs. Wu Da Dao (Five Big Roads), Italian Style Town, and the Hai River are home to beautiful European style architecture and stunning views. In fact, Tianjin has more classic Italian sculptures than anywhere outside Italy.
Tianjin has a modern and efficient subway system that includes four lines, and getting around by taxi, Uber, or bicycle is very easy. Beijing is only a 32-minute journey by high-speed rail, and Tianjin is a transport hub for travel to many other locations throughout China.
In spite of all this, rent and living costs are low, so living in Tianjin combines a perfect blend of "Old" and "New" China!

There's a "food street" close by as well, with specialties like fresh dumplings, BBQ, fried rice, and other tasty local dishes. Food in Tianjin is very cheap, ranging from CNY 6 - CNY 40, depending on what kind of restaurant and the dish you order. We'll have refreshments like coffee, tea, and snacks for you to enjoy during class.
There's a hotel just a five-minute walk from our facility, and the cost is about $30-$45/night. If you require other options based on your budget, we're happy to provide suggestions. Our helpful staff will book the room for you. No credit card is needed until check-in.
There are a lot of immensities nearby the hotel and classroom, so walking is convenient. Tianjin is very easy to get around - it has a great subway system, and taxis are abundant and inexpensive (CNY 9-12 per trip).
You can enter China on a tourist (L) visa. These are typically valid for 30-90 days, and can be obtained easily at any Chinese Embassy/Consulate. There are visa agency services to process the visa for you if you don't live near a Consulate office. We're happy to provide an invitation letter if you need it for your visa application.
If you're coming to Tianjin from within China, you may take a high-speed train or flight. The Tianjin airport is just about 30-40 minutes from downtown. We'll send a driver to pick you up at the train station or airport in Tianjin. If you're coming from outside China, you may fly into Tianjin directly (TSN) or into Beijing (PEK). Beijing is about 2-3 hours by shuttle - the shuttle is only about CNY 75, and we'll send you detailed instructions so you can find the shuttle pick-up area.
